Grafting

Most named conifers are propigated by grafting a cutting of a named plant variety onto the stem of a compatible rootstock.

This graft union is secured by a special binder and then covered with a grafting wax material. The plant is then stored in a greenhouse environment until there are positive signs of growth from the grafted union.
